WKMG News 6 in Orlando, FL
Digital intern for clickorlando.com
In the summer of 2021, I had interviewed with WKMG News 6 for a possible internship. I still had a couple of semesters left before I graduated, so I was encouraged to try in the fall. I attended another internship fair with my journalism student organization and landed a spring 2022 internship with my dream station.
Despite my limited experience as a student, my skill level quickly changed. I was writing briefs each Tuesday and Thursday that I was in the newsroom, and that repetition helped me with AP Style, headline writing and structure. I also juggled this 16-hour internship with a full course load including my capstone.
In addition to writing for the Clickorlando website, I clipped videos to add to reporters’ stories, edited reporter copy and produced features by interviewing local people.
